A Texas County teenager faces multiple felony charges after a Texas County Sheriff’s Department investigation.
Johnathan D. Cook, 17, of Success, is charged with first-degree statutory rape, stealing a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.
Sheriff Scott Lindsey reported that on Sept. 11, a deputy received a report of a stolen firearm at a residence on Highway BB in the Licking area. The firearm was located at a pawn shop in Houston and the deputy initiated an investigation.Â
On Sept. 25, the deputy conducted a search of a residence in Licking that led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia and a substance that was believed to be methamphetamine. Lindsey said a 13-year-old girl at the residence also stated the suspect – later identified as Cook – had sexual intercourse with her. Cook was located after slipping away from the house and reportedly admitted to trading the firearm for meth and having sexual contact with the girl.  Â
Cook was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail, and later charged by assistant county prosecutor Jason MacPherson. He is held on $150,000 bond.  Â
