Robert “Tom” William Garrett, 84, of Pottsville, Ark., passed away Friday, Sept. 20, 2019. He was born January 31, 1935, in Success, Mo., to William Elba Robert Garrett and Mary Jane McCoy Garrett.
Tom loved his family and friends. In his spare time he liked to watch westerns and visit with anyone he met. He was a hard worker. He enjoyed his time with his Irby work family, valuing their friendship, respect and prayers for one another. Before his passing, longtime family friend, JoAnn Hefley, led Tom to the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lee Parks-Garrett; parents; two brothers, Leon Garrett, Lynn Garrett; and a son, Ricky Joe Matthews.
He is survived by his children, Greg Garrett and Wendy, Elizabeth Garrett-Parrish and Paul, Janice Garrett-White and Randy “Red”; grandchildren, Joe Matthews, Randon Matthews, Kera Matthews-Parent, Kristen Matthews-Richardson, Jasmine Matthews, Jessi Hoenes, Thomas Garrett, Shawn Parrish, Christina Wachtendorf, Deserie Nelson, Chad Burge; 34 great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Retta Hall, Carmie McCallister, Wilma Wade and Morris, Raymond Garrett and Linda, Farrell Garrett, Lonnie Garrett and Rose, Ronnie Garrett and Viola; sister-in-law, Mary Lois Lewallen; and several other family and friends.
Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 24, 2019, at Russellville Family Funeral. The funeral service was 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019 at Russellville Family Funeral with brother Jeff Smith officiating. Burial followed in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of Russellville Family Funeral.
