A Texas County man faces a trio of felony charges after a Texas County Sheriff’s Department investigation of an alleged assault July 26.
Christopher E. O. Giller, 30, of 4135 Highway VV at Licking, is charged with second-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
According to a deputy’s report, the officer responded to a report of a man in the emergency room at Texas County Memorial Hospital emergency room who had sustained injuries from an assault. The victim reportedly told the officer had had gone over to another man’s Canning Lane residence to discuss payment for a construction job, and that while they were talking, Giller came up from behind and began striking him with a club.
The victim reportedly told the deputy he tried to fight back, but Giller continued to bludgeon him. When asked why Giller would hit him in such a way, the victim told the officer he was seeing a woman who was also having a relationship with Giller, which made him angry, according to a report.
The report said the deputy observed that one of the victim’s eyes was swollen and he had a large welt near it. The victim stated he had other injuries on his arm, back and neck.
Giller was not in custody as of Monday. His bond is set at $150,000.
