The Texas County Sheriff's Department investigated an incident at a church parking lot in western Texas County.

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A 31-year-old Houston woman reported on Oct. 4 that a welder, tool bag and torpedo heater with a total value of $800 had been stolen from her Sommerfield Drive residence.

The woman told an investigating deputy that she had recovered the heater from a local pawn shop. Three men – ages, 37, 34 and 31 – are suspects.

•On Sept. 6, deputies executed a search warrant at a residence in a Highway B trailer park east of Houston, along with officers from the Houston Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Dent County Sheriff’s Department.

The officers were looking for a man who was suspected of having narcotics and stolen firearms on the property. A woman who was present told officers all other people who live there were at a funeral. No guns were located, but several items of drug paraphernalia and substances that tested positive as heroin and methamphetamine were found.

The search also included a camper trailer on the property. Two women and a man were reportedly inside, and drug paraphernalia was found, but no guns.

During the process, a woman drove up and asked officers why they were there. She reportedly stated she had been dating the man they were looking for, but they were no longer together and she knew nothing about stolen guns.

All evidence was photographed and seized.

•A deputy responded to a report of property damage at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church on Highway FF at Bucyrus.

A 73-year-old woman there told the officer that a 61-year-old man had been doing donuts in the church parking lot. She said she didn’t want to pursue charges, because that decision would have to be voted on among church members.
