A Houston man faces a felony assault charge following a Houston Police Department investigation of an incident involving a woman on Oct. 11.
Chad W. Hutsell, 30, of 8123 N. U.S. 63 in Houston, is charged with felony second-degree domestic assault and misdemeanors of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree property damage.
According to a probable cause statement, an officer responded at about 5 p.m. to a report of a fight at an Acorn Lane residence. A woman reportedly told the officer Hutsell had choked her, punched her, slammed her into a wall, thrown her to the floor and kicked her while she was down.
The report said the woman also told the officer Hutsell had hit a 3-year-old girl during the incident.
The officer reportedly observed scratches and other marks on several parts of the woman’s body.
At about 6 p.m., Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputies located Hutsell in the Summersville area, and he was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail. During questioning, he claimed that the woman had punched him in the face, causing him to black out, and had hit him and kicked him several other times, according to a report.
But the officer reported not seeing any markings or bruising indicating he had been punched in the face.
Hutsell is held on $500,000 bond.
