Julie A. Colvard, 45, of 17763 Highway B at Houston Houston is charged with felonies of possession of methamphetamine and resisting arrest for a felony, along with misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sheriff Scott Lindsey reported that on Sept. 18, a deputy on patrol in the Houston area observed a traffic violation on a vehicle traveling south on U.S. 63. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the driver.
After speaking, the deputy requested consent to search the vehicle and it was granted. A female passenger in the truck was requested to empty her pockets. During that process, the deputy observed a plastic bag containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
The deputy attempted to place the female under arrest and she physically resisted. The suspect was eventually restrained and taken into custody. A further search of her person led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia and a scale.
Colvard was taken to the Texas County Jail and later charged by assistant prosecuting attorney Jason MacPherson. Her bond is set at $200,000.
