One person was injured Monday, Oct. 21, when a motorist struck a tree that was brought down during a severe thunderstorm.

An Elk Creek man was injured Monday morning when his vehicle struck a large tree on Highway 137 about three miles south of Tyrone. 

A storm had downed the tree that was struck by a southbound 2005 Jeep Liberty driven by David M. Davies, 52, reports Cpl. Terry Nelson of the Missouri State Highway Patrol 

Davies, who was wearing a seat belt, had minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to Texas County Memorial Hospital following the 6:20 a.m. accident.
