Members of the Texas County Commission met Nov. 6-7.

Commissioners:

•Discussed with Jeff Broadway of Gold Mechanical, Springfield, options to raise a new HVAC  unit on the roof of the Texas County Justice Center. Contact was made with L & R Industries at Dunn and commissioners will continue to search for more cost-effective options.

•Approved proposals for roof repairs at the Texas County Administration Center by Stiles Roofing, which operates from Springfield and Lebanon.

•Heard from Sheriff Scott Lindsey, Chief Deputy Rowdy Douglas, Jail Administrator Tim Garnica and Assistant Jail Administrator Andy Edwards regarding sheriff’s department and jail operations. Overtime budget options were discussed, as well as Sho-Me Technologies fiber at the Texas County Justice Center.

•Reviewed correspondence from MoDOT related to an agreement for a project at Evans Road’s Ford Creek crossing.

•Denied a request from Melissa Simpson to waive her 2017 tax bill.

•Heard from Ron Jones, director, regarding the county’s downtown museum. It is open on Fridays. In 2020, the plan is to be open on Thursdays after being closed for the winter. Also discussed was selling items related to the county in a gift shop.
