Texas County is in second place in the state in the fall firearms deer harvest, according to a Missouri Department of Conservation count early Monday morning. 

Hunters have killed 3,550 deer in Texas County. The breakdown: Antlered bucks, 1,945; button bucks, 319; and does, 1,286. 

Top counties in the state are: Franklin, 3,793, first; Texas, second; Callaway, 3,195, third; Howell, 2,991, fourth; and Dent, 2,848.

In 2018, hunters killed 3,447 deer in Texas County during the fall firearms season.
