Members of the Licking High School volleyball team hold up four fingers in recognition of the squad's trip to this week's Class 2 final four in Cape Girardeau.

The Licking High School volleyball team has advanced to the Missouri State High School Activities Association Class 2 final four.

In sectionals action last Saturday at Strafford, the Lady Wildcats qualified for the final four by downing the host Lady Indians in 3 sets in the quarterfinals, 14-25, 25-23, 25-20.

In this Friday’s round robin stage of the Class 2 semifinals at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Licking (30-8) will face Hermann (31-5) at 9 a.m., St. Pius X (22-6-2) at 11 a.m. St. Paul Lutheran (20-14-2) at 1 p.m. The third-place match is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, and the championship match will begin at 10:30.

On their home court on Oct. 29, the Lady Wildcats won the Class 2 District 9 championship with a 2-set victory over Conway, 25-21, 25-18, and a comeback 3-set triumph over Liberty, 21-25, 26-24, 25-21.

Licking is appearing in the volleyball final four for the first time in 40 years.

The Show Me Center is at 1333 N. Sprigg St. in Cape Girardeau.
