Melissa Jean Smith, age 52, daughter of Norman Douglas and Esther Cullum Shoen, was born May 3, 1967, in Flint, Mich. She passed away in her home on Oct. 17, 2019, at Bucyrus, Mo.
She grew up in Summersville, Mo., and graduated from Summersville High School in 1985. She married Jerry Smith on Oct. 18, 1994, in Houston, Mo.
Mrs. Smith worked for Texas County Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed her family, all animals, including frogs and bees. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making things for her loved ones and reading.
She was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Smith of the home; two sons, Bryan Turvin of Pleasant Hope, Mo., and Benjamin Turvin of Bucyrus, Mo.; two daughters, Bridjett Bell of Houston, Mo., and Brianna Turvin of Bucyrus, Mo.; six grandchildren; her mother, Esther Roland of Summersville, Mo.; two brothers, Curtis Roland of Idaho, and Donald Roland of Mountain View, Mo.; three sisters, Stacy Johnston of Idaho, Melanie Curlile of Summersville, Mo., and Christy Sanders of Van Buren, Mo.
A private family service will be held later. Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
