White-tailed deer does are on an alert during fall season in Missouri.

Texas County was in second place in the state in firearms deer season late Sunday afternoon, according to a Missouri Department of Conservation count. 

Hunters have killed 1,646 deer in Texas County. The breakdown: Antlered bucks, 959; button bucks, 156; and does, 531. 

Top counties in the state are: Franklin, 1,847, first; Texas, second; Callaway, 1,479; and Bollinger, 1,370.

In 2018, hunters killed 3,447 deer during the fall firearms season.
