A Texas County deputy was dispatched Dec. 2 regarding a report of theft at the Sherill Township Shed on Highway 137 at Licking.

The officer made contact with a man representing the township who said a large number of items had been stolen, with a total value of $26,465. Swiped goods reportedly included two pickup trucks – a 2000 Chevrolet G20 and a 2000 GMC HD2500 – belonging to a company in Nixa, along with numerous tools stored in a trailer at the location and many other items.

Surveillance video showed the GMC truck leaving the township lot at about 2:20 a.m. Nov. 27. A Missouri State Highway Patrol officer reportedly found it on Nov. 30 on Highway VV about two miles from the county line, and it was burned and not in drivable condition.

Two men are identified as suspects and investigation continues.
