A local bank will move into new quarters sometime next summer in one of Houston’s busiest commercial areas, an official said Monday.

Jay Williams of Security Bank of the Ozarks said construction has begun on a 2,900 square foot facility that will also feature three drive-through lanes and an ATM. It is situated on Holder Drive and south of the Houston Walmart Supercenter in an area that has seen recent new development, including a strip mall under development by Justin Shelby, who moved his State Farm Insurance agency there as part of the project. The bank’s property was acquired from the Davis family, which operates the nearby Houston Do-it Center.

Preliminary excavation and utility work are already underway at the site. The project is under contract to Gentry Construction Co. Inc. of Houston.

“We’re really looking forward to serving the community from the new location,” Williams said. He said the site will bring additional convenience to the bank’s customers. It currently is housed at Brushy Creek Road and North U.S. 63.

The bank, which also has locations at Summersville, Eminence and Winona, entered the Houston market in spring 2009. The Williams family has been in the banking business since 1959.
