The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•A 64-year-old Licking woman reported on Nov. 7 that her wallet had been stolen from her purse at her Shafer Road residence.

•A 62-year-old Licking woman reported on Oct. 24 that a shop building on her Dalton Drive property had been broken into and several hunting bows and equipment for them had been swiped.
The woman told an investigating officer that a lock to the building had been cut and was lying on the ground. The total value of the stolen goods was $2,899.
•A deputy was dispatched Oct. 24 to Wehr Ford at Mountain Grove regarding a report of forgery.
The officer manager at the dealership reportedly told the officer two fake checks had been cashed on the business’ account at Great Southern Bank in Springfield. Both of the bad checks were cashed by the same man, and were each for $2,283.67. Another man reportedly tried to cash a third fake check for $2,583.67, but it was declined.

Deputies from the Texas County Sheriff’s Department were called to several investigations in the last week.
A deputy noted that the Springfield Police Department wouldn’t take the case.
