The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A 38-year-old Houston man reported on Dec. 25 that a utility trailer had been stolen from his Brushy Creek Road residence.

The man told an investigating deputy that the trailer had likely been swiped by a 44-year-old Raymondville man. The officer located the trailer at the Sleepy Hollow trailer park and it was returned to its owner, who declined to press charges.

•A 67-year-old Summersville woman reported on Dec. 7 that people were in her Highway 17 residence without permission.

The culprits were two minor boys, who ran out the back door when the resident investigated, authorities said.

The woman stated she was across the street and could see drapes moving in the house.

Discovered was a large amount of damage in the house, estimated at $3,200 worth.

The neighbor woman said she was the guardian of one of the 11-year-old boys. During questioning, the boys denied causing the damage and said they had entered through an open door to explore.

SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT BLOTTER

Deputies from the Texas County Sheriff’s Department were called to several investigations in the last week.

Investigation continues.

•A deputy responded on Dec. 6 to a report of theft at a Hidden Valley Lane residence at Mountain Grove.

A 71-year-old man there told the officer a boat and trailer (of unreported type and value) had been swiped. The man said he didn’t have a title for the boat, had no use for it and didn’t want it back if it was found.

•A deputy was dispatched Dec. 12 regarding a report of an abandoned vehicle at a Hazelton Drive residence at Licking.

The caretaker of the home told the officer the vehicle – a silver 2007 Chevrolet PT Cruiser – had been left there about two years ago and it needed to be removed. The car was towed away and a computer check on it revealed no information about its owner.
