The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•A deputy responded Dec. 14 to a report of a prowler at a Highway 137 residence south of Licking.
A man matching the description of the suspect was located walking along the highway about a quarter-mile away. The deputy gained permission to search the suspect, and a plastic bag containing methamphetamine, a spoon and a syringe was found.
The man, 28, of Licking, was arrested and taken to jail pending a warrant.
Deputies from the Texas County Sheriff’s Department were called to several investigations in the last week.
•A 32-year-old Raymondville man called Dec. 14 to report that someone had rammed a vehicle into the side of his red 2012 Ford F-150 pickup.
An investigating officer observed tire tracks that indicated a vehicle with wide, rough tire tread had accelerated toward the truck. The man told the deputy that a 26-year-old Summersville man might be to blame because he was angry over a relationship the man was having with his 27-year-old former girlfriend.
A piece of evidence found at the scene was later found to match up to the suspect’s Jeep Wrangler. A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor.
•A 38-year-old Roby woman reported on Dec. 11 that her Glock handgun was missing from her School Drive residence.
The woman told an investigating deputy of a possible suspect. Investigation continues.
•A 42-year-old Houston man reported on Nov. 9 that an air compressor and several other items with a total value of $352 had been stolen from a Highway B property he is selling. A 31-year-old Houston man is a suspect.
•A 29-year-old Cabool man reported on Nov. 10 that his 2017 Jeep Wrangler valued at $40,000 had been stolen from his Highway EE residence. There are no suspects.
•On Dec. 7, a deputy investigated a report of a theft at a 77-year-old woman’s Highway B residence at Raymondville. Swiped goods reportedly included a Stihl weed eater and several tools with a total value of $1,100. Investigation is ongoing.
•A 41-year-old man reported on Nov. 7 that a 77-year-old man who owns the house he lives in was trespassing.
An investigating deputy made contact with the landowner and he said he never gave the man permission to live there. The officer advised the other man what the landowner said. The landowner gave him 24 hours to remove his belongings.
