George Eugene McKee, age 77, son of George Ernest and Rebecca Elizabeth (Dees) McKee was born on Dec. 18, 1941, in Tyrone, Mo. He passed away Nov. 30, 2019, in Willow Springs, Mo.

Gene grew up in the Evening Shade area in the early 1950s. He dated Rochelle Mace for two years before they married on April 30, 1960. They were blessed with two sons and two daughters.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sunny Gayle McKee; and four siblings, Ulus “Buck” McKee, Lorene Button, Freda Carter and Julia Breedlove.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rochelle McKee of the home in Success, Mo.;  daughter, Kathy Jean Seawright and husband Darryl of Mainesville, Ohio; two sons, Gregory Lynn McKee and wife Kathy of Springfield, Mo., and Tracy Eugene McKee of Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Gene received Christ as his Savior in 1990 and remained faithful throughout the years. He was a member of the Houston Bible Baptist Church. He served as deacon, and mowed the church lawn for several years, and could always be found in the kitchen washing dishes after church fellowships. Above all, he loved sharing his testimony of how God got his attention and how that lead to his salvation. He wanted everyone to know that the only way to heaven was through Jesus Christ.

He loved working in his garden, walking for exercise, fishing and picking blackberries. Yearly, he would buy 150 pounds of pecans in Arkansas and crack them one by one. He also enjoyed growing and making his own garlic powder. One of his favorite pastimes was having coffee in the mornings while watching the deer come up to the feeder and salt block in the back yard.

Gene was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
