Houston Community Foundation will participate in Dec. 3's "Giving Tuesday."

The Houston Community Foundation, which works for the betterment of the local community, will participate in “Giving Tuesday” today.

Started in 2012, it has grown to a worldwide program that now includes 50 counties.

Houston Community Foundation said Tuesday marks only 22 days until Christmas. It is asking everyone to make a $22 tax-deductible contribution. The foundation provides scholarships and helps to support the work of numerous organizations in the community. Most recently, it announced $600,000 had been secured from an estate to provide scholarships to Houston High School seniors. Ross Richardson is the president of the local affiliate of Community Foundation of the Ozarks.
