Two men from Licking face felony charges after a Texas County Sheriff’s Department theft investigation Dec. 9.
Randall R. Shepherd, 28, of Licking, is charged with stealing over $750, and Phillip D. Giller, 42, of Licking, is charged with stealing over $750 and failing to register as a sex offender.
Sheriff Scott Lindsey said deputies assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol recovered a stolen trailer at a residence on Highway 32 in the Licking area. A computer check revealed the trailer was stolen from Eldon on Dec. 6, and had been swiped about 14 ½ hours after being purchased new for $1,850.
Officers spoke with a woman and Shepherd, who were both at the house, and Shepherd was ultimately arrested.
Lindsey said Dec. 11, another suspect in the case – Giller – was taken into custody after a traffic stop by a deputy. He was reportedly interviewed and the determination was made that he and Shepherd stole the trailer from Eldon and took it to Texas County. Giller was also discovered to be a tier 3 sex offender who was residing in Texas County without registering with the sheriff’s office.   Â
Giller is held in the Texas County jail pending $500,000 bond, while Shepherd’s bond is set at $150,000.
