As a result of a Texas County Sheriff’s Department investigation of an incident Tuesday near Raymondville, a Texas County man faces a trio of felony charges.
Lonnie R. Royal, 38, of Raymondville, is charged with third-degree domestic assault, stealing a motor vehicle and armed criminal action.
Sheriff Scott Lindsey said deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on Golden Trail Road in the Raymondville area, and were advised by dispatch that the suspect had assaulted a family member and stolen a vehicle from the residence.
Lindsey said deputies observed the vehicle traveling west on Highway B and initiated a traffic stop, and a man later identified as Royal was detained for investigation. Deputies contacted the complainant, Lindsey said, who stated Royal struck him with a flashlight and stole his vehicle. Royal was transported to the Texas County Jail. His bond is set at $150,000.
