KEVIN SARTOR

After a Texas County Sheriff’s Department investigation on Dec. 3, a convicted sex offender faces a fresh felony charge for failing to register with the county.

Kevin W. Sartor, 46, of 12002 Highway AD at Mountain Grove, is charged with failure to register as a sex offender (a class E felony).

A deputy’s report said a probation and parole officer notified the sheriff’s department on Dec. 3 that Sartor had a warrant for absconding. The parole officer stated he went to a Highway M residence where Sartor had reported he was living, but discovered upon arrival that Sartor was actually not living there.

Information was also received that Sartor had missed his last appointment on Nov. 7 to check in with the TCSD as a convicted sex offender, and that he had last checked in on Aug. 13. In Missouri, sex offenders are required to report every three months and declare a change of address within three days of the change.

The deputy reported that the determination was made that Sartor had been reporting a false address for several weeks.

Later the same day, information was received that Sartor was at a Highway AD location, and staying in a camper behind a barn at the home of two women. Officers went to the location and a woman there said Sartor was hiding in a storage room off of her bedroom, according to a report.

He was arrested without incident and taken to the Texas County Jail, where he is held without bond.
