The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•A 51-year-old man who lives in Rolla reported on Nov. 14 that a residence he owns on Highway 32 at Licking had been broken into and numerous items had been stolen with a total reported value of $30,090. There are no suspects.
•James C. Leyrer, 35, of 8205 Northview Lane, No. 33, in Houston, was issued a citation for fourth-degree assault after an incident Dec. 27 at a 57-year-old man’s Highway 17 residence at Summersville.
Deputies from the Texas County Sheriff’s Department were called to several investigations in the last week.
Leyrer allegedly hit the victim in the head with the barrel of a gun and punched him several times.
•A 40-year-old Licking man reported on Dec. 13 that he had hired contractors to construct a shop building at his U.S. 63 property, but the contractors had performed no work despite being given a check for $23,460 for supplies on Aug. 5.
An investigating deputy attempted to contact the contractors (a 44-year-old man and a 38-year-old man, both of St. Robert), but without success. A report was sent to the county prosecutor.
•A deputy was dispatched Dec. 27 regarding a report of six Stihl chainsaws with a total value of $4,000 stolen from a sawmill on Highway AM at Mountain Grove.
Surveillance video showed three men kicking in a door and entering the sawmill building at about 11 p.m. Footprints were also examined. Investigation continues.
