The nursing staff at Texas County Technical College (TCTC) announced the recent purchase of a Nurse Anne high-fidelity simulator. The manikin provides students the opportunity to practice nursing skills in a safe environment, enabling better patient care in real-world settings.

The Nurse Anne manikin uses state-of-the art technology allowing students to listen to simulated lung and heart sounds, as well as providing the opportunity to perform various assessments. Students are also able to perform basic skills such as intravenous insertions, injections and catheterizations on the manikin.

Nurse Anne includes an obstetrics module that simulates care of pregnant clients after delivery. Realistic practice is one of the key features for developing proficiency in patient care. With the addition of Nurse Anne to TCTC’s simulation laboratory, students will be able to provide better care for a variety of hospital patients. Current TCTC students will begin using Nurse Anne in the spring 2020 semester , which started in January.

The next LPN program at Texas County Technical College begins in August and applications are being accepted. There are no prerequisites for this program. Persons who are already an LPN want to advance their career, the next Accelerated LPN to RN program begins in May and seats are limited.
