Although he is not a regular Show Me Cash player, Steven Matherly of Cabool decided to purchase a ticket for the Saturday, Feb. 8, drawing. On Monday, Matherly heard the winning ticket had been sold at The Gas Station, 319 Ozark St. in Cabool, which was where he had purchased his ticket.

“Somebody posted on Facebook that there had been a $111,000 Show Me Cash winner sold at The Gas Station, in our hometown,” he explained. “I told my wife, ‘I think I’ve got that ticket out there on my dash.’ ”

Matherly, who operates a real estate business, retrieved the ticket from his vehicle and checked it using the Missouri Lottery’s mobile app, which informed him that his ticket was indeed the $111,000 jackpot winner.

“That ticket had been riding around on my dash all weekend,” he said. “I’m surprised it didn’t blow out!”

The winning numbers for the Feb. 8 Show Me Cash drawing were 1, 20, 35, 37 and 39. Matherly’s ticket is the game’s fifth jackpot winner so far this year.

In the most recent fiscal year, players in Texas County won more than $3.3 million in Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers in the county received more than $343,000 in commissions and bonuses, and an additional $590,000 went to educational programs in the county.
