The Texas County Historical and Military Museum will open for the 2020 season next Thursday (March 5).
Located on Grand Avenue in downtown Houston, the facility will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Thursday through November.
The museum features several rooms decked out with dozens of items honoring veterans of all U.S. wars (including memorabilia and uniforms from several wartime periods with connections to Texas County), as well as many general historical items (including century-old photos from around the county).
Museum director Charles Jones said there will be new items on display this year and the front door will be open (as had been the case for years until recent years).
The museum is also home to the local Genealogical and Historical Society and its library. That group will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year.
