The Houston School District issued this statement just before 10 a.m.:
“At approximately 9:30 a.m. on 2/28/2020, Houston Middle and High School went into a soft lockdown due to a student issue. Classroom instruction did continue. Students and staff are safe. All students and staff were asked to stay inside classrooms for approximately 5 minutes during the lockdown. The Houston Police Department was dispatched immediately to the high school. Law enforcement has taken a juvenile in for further questioning. Again, our top priority is student safety. All classes have resumed to a normal schedule.”
