A Licking man faces a felony weapons charge after a Texas County Sheriff’s Department investigation on Feb. 17.
James H. Hawkins, 61, of Licking is charged with unlawful use of a weapon while intoxicated (a class D felony) and misdemeanor fourth-degree domestic assault.
Sheriff Scott Lindsey said deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on Shipp Drive in the Licking area where a woman reported that Hawkins was under the influence of drugs and had discharged a firearm and made threats to kill her. The woman reportedly also stated Hawkins was experiencing hallucinations.
Hawkins left the residence before arrival of deputies, Lindsey said, but was located by Licking Police Department officers, detained and arrested by Texas County deputies. He is held in jail on $200,000 bond.
