Authorities are investigating several crimes in the county.

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•Matthew C. Boggs, 33, of 10404 Long Valley Road at Plato, was arrested Feb. 2 for having four active warrants – two out of Laclede County, and one each from Pulaski County and Licking.

Boggs was arrested after two deputies went to a Highway M residence after information was received indicating Boggs was there. Upon arrival, the officers observed Boggs run into a shop building and then located him hiding behind a car hood that was leaning against a wall. He was taken to the Texas County Jail.

•A 21-year-old Licking man reported on Jan. 30 that he had been working for a 25-year-old Plato man for about 2 1/2 months and hadn’t been paid.

The man said he had worked about 230 hours and was owed $2,875. After an investigation, a deputy sent a probable cause statement to the county prosecutor seeking a stealing by deceit charge against the suspect.

•A 56-year-old Willow Springs woman reported on Jan. 31 that a 2005 Ford F-350 truck valued at $12,000 had been stolen from her Timberhill road residence. Investigation is ongoing.

•A 51-year-old Palmyra woman reported on Jan. 27 that her 2002 Dodge Intrepid valued at $2,500 had been stolen from a Buffalo Road residence at Licking.

The woman told an officer her former boyfriend had sold the car even though his name wasn’t on the title. Investigation is ongoing.

•Michael C. Cain, 29, of 12880 Glen Drive at Bucyrus, was arrested Jan. 28 for having three active warrants – one from Texas County, one from Houston and one from Licking.

A deputy investigating a suspicious vehicle at a Highway AU residence made the arrest after making contact with Cain at the location. A computer check revealed the warrants, and Cain was taken to jail.
