The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•A 58-year-old Licking woman reported on Feb. 23 that her 41-year-old son had stolen her 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee from her Shipp Drive residence.
An investigating deputy spoke to the suspect, who said his father had given him permission to take the Jeep to his brother so he could use it. The vehicle was then located at the brother’s residence and he said he would return it.
The woman declined pressing charges.
•At about 10 p.m. Feb. 5, a deputy observed a gray Saturn Ion fail to signal as it turned from Junction Street onto Highway B at Raymondville.
The officer followed the vehicle and it turned into a driveway at a residence on Highway B. The man driving got out and the officer made contact with him.
The officer then heard glass dropping on the gravel and saw a glass smoking device at the man’s feet. The pipe was seized and a residue in it tested positive as methamphetamine. A straw with meth in it was found during a subsequent search of the vehicle.
A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor.
