Two men and a woman are in jail following a Texas County Sheriff’s Department investigation of a camper trailer theft.

Sheriff Scott Lindsey said that on Feb. 9 a deputy responded to a report of a theft on Smith Road in the Hartshorn area. The victim reported a 2019 Mesa Ridge camper valued at $27,500 was missing, along with its contents.

On Feb. 16, a suspect was located in the investigation and interviewed. Lindsey said he admitted involvement in the theft and provided a location in Howell County where the camper was stashed. Texas County deputies, assisted by the Howell County Sheriff’s Department, located and recovered the camper at a residence on Highway 137 near Willow Springs.

Two suspects in the case were subsequently apprehended and another was arrested this week.

Justin P. Christopher, 26, of Summersville, is charged with felony stealing and is held in the Texas County Jail on $50,000 bond. Lynsey Moberly, 22, of Raymondville, is charged with first-degree burglary and two counts of felony stealing. She was jailed with a bond set at $150,000. Clint A. Smotherman, 29, is also charged with first-degree burglary and two counts of felony stealing. He was arrested Feb. 26 at a residence in Howell County (with help from the Howell County Sheriff’s Department). His bond is also set at $150,000.

Texas County Sheriff Scott Lindsey said Thursday that Clint Smotherton was arrested Wednesday evening, Feb. 26, at a Howell County residence as a result of joint operation of his department and the Howell County Sheriff’s Department.
