Members of the Texas County Commission met July 14-15, according to minutes it released Thursday.


•Continue working on revising a contract with Texas County Memorial Hospital for professional services to meet the need of the sheriff’s department.

•Reviewed applications and discussed hiring custodial help until a maintenance supervisor can be found.

•Met with collector-treasurer Tammy Cantrell to revolve issues with county clerk (state report for June for collector from county clerk’s office). It discussed time cards, check register and payroll journals, as well as tax sale issues.

•Denied a request to waive penalties and interest on individual personal property.


•Met with county assessor Debbie James concerning issues with retirement for an employee, as well as sick leave reimbursement and hire dates. Held a discussion on the board of equalization and board of adjustments, as well as county clerk forms on the State Tax Commission website.

•Discussed with a sheriff’s department employee their concerns with vacation and holiday time reporting. It met with Sheriff Scott Lindsey on ways to help retain and recruit deputies, purchase of portable AC units, ways to handle current COVID-19 expenses and approved salary supplement adjustments for June 30-July 13.

•Reviewed and acknowledged that a part-time employee in the recorder’s office decided not to take the position and reviewed a final update on an imaging project in the recorder’s office.

•Issued a written order for several items from the county clerk’s office.

•Issued a written request to the county clerk’s office concerning the board of appeals on Aug. 11.

•Reviewed correspondence from the Missouri Department of Conservation concerning CART fund reimbursement for roads and will add it to the agenda to the township advisory meeting for July 26.

•Set a county employee night at the Springfield Cardinals on Aug. 8, and they also decided that Pepsi and Coke vendors need to meet with it.
