Members of the Houston Rural Fire Department responded at 4 p.m. Friday to a report of a vehicle fully engulfed on East Highway 17 near the rock quarry.

The vehicle was in motion when it caught fire, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Deputies with the Texas County Sheriff’s Department were on scene to divert traffic, as the highway was temporarily closed.

There were no reported injuries.
