Deputy’s report: Air conditioner, copper wiring stolen

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

• On June 17, a 58-year-old Houston man reported a fraudulent VIN on a vehicle he repossessed after financing it to a 31-year-old Licking man.

On Oct. 26, an investigating deputy went to a Kimble Road property at Licking and made contact with the man who financed the vehicle. The man told the officer he had no knowledge of a fraudulent VIN, and that he had been storing multiple vehicles at a former in-law’s property for about two years but hadn’t seen any of them for about 1 1/2 years.

Investigation is ongoing.

• Michelle L. Dewolfe, 51, of 19655 Amburn Road at Raymondville, was issued a citation for driving while suspended on Oct. 7 after a traffic stop.

A deputy conducted the stop at about 1 a.m. after observing a gold Chevrolet Equinox fail to yield at a stop sign at Highway P and U.S. 63.

• A 31-year-old woman reported on Aug. 9 that an air conditioner had been stolen from her Dogwood Road residence and copper wiring had been cut from a trailer on her property.

The woman told an investigating deputy that a 27-year-old neighbor man might have been the thief.

The officer made contact with the man and he said he had no knowledge of the situation.

The officer spoke with the woman again and she said another 27-year-old man had been contacting her and had told her the neighbor man was responsible.

The deputy went back to the neighbor man and asked if he knew of the other man, and he said he did and they had argued in the past and that he might be to blame.

Investigation is ongoing.
