The following are excerpts from reports recently generated by the Houston Police Department:
- Megan M. Sizemore, 35, of 17405 Highway Y in Elk Creek, was arrested Oct. 22 for having an active Texas County warrant for a felony stealing charge and a misdemeanor animal abuse charge.
An officer made the arrest while investigating a case at the Shell station in Houston in which Sizemore was involved. A computer check revealed the warrant.
Sizemore was taken to the Texas County Jail with a bond set at $1,000.
- An officer was dispatched Oct. 31 regarding a report of forgery at the West Plains Bank and Trust Company location on U.S. 63.
A bank representative told the officer that a 44-year-old Plato man had deposited a check for $4,450 on Oct. 21 and then withdrew $4,000.
The representative said the bank then reached out to the man because the check was bad, and advised him to return the money. The man reportedly provided the bank with $800, but has made no other attempts to settle the debt, and bank officials believe he won’t.
During an interview with police, the man said he was dealing with a company called Charter House Holdings, and that he would receive $16,000 after returning the $4,000. The man told police he didn’t think he was being scammed.
An investigating officer researched the company and determined the man was likely being scammed, but had also committed a fraudulent offense. A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor.
