A Mountain Grove woman faces a pair of felony charges after a Texas County Sheriff’s Department theft investigation on Feb. 26.
Lacey Andrews, born in 1995, of 1571 County Road 2790, Lot 11, in Mountain View, is charged with second-degree burglary and stealing $750 or more (both class D felonies).
According to a report, an unoccupied residence (with an unreported address) was broken into and several items with a total value of $1,211 were stolen. Video provided by a neighbor showed a white Ford F-150 pickup with the goods in its bed.
Investigating deputies determined that the items had been sold to a recycling business in Mountain View on Feb. 8, and a receipt from the business showed Andrews as the customer.
At the location of the theft, officers reportedly observed pry marks on the front door, metal cut off of the side of a camper, and that a well pump had been cut out of a well house.
While at the location, officers were advised that Andrews was at the business in Mountain View. Contact was made with Mountain View police and she was detained.
During subsequent questioning, Andrews claimed to have received permission to scrap the items from a man not associated with the property, and that two men had helped her load them into the truck.
She was taken to the Texas County Jail and has a cash-only bond set at $1,500.
