The Cabool Police Department responded to several calls during the past week, including two related to domestic violence.
The department reported 18 traffic stops resulting in 13 summons issued. Two arrests for non-traffic offenses were made.
At 10:50 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, a 2007 Ford Taurus driven by Benedicta Kargel, 20 of Cabool, backed into a ditch at Cedar and Metrecal while attempting to turn around. No injuries were reported.
On Jan. 31, officers sent a probable cause statement to the Texas County Prosecutor concerning suspicion of Shawn J. Morris violating the terms of his probation. Morris pleaded guilty to third-degree domestic assault in 2023, according to police.
On Feb. 1, Joan Hawkins, Cabool, was issued a summons for allowing a dog to run at large.
At 1:05 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, officers stopped a vehicle which had reportedly been involved in leaving the scene of an accident in northern Texas County. While stopped, Duane Walker, Belle, Mo., accelerated his vehicle into the side of a Cabool patrol car. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash. Walker was determined to be suffering a medical emergency and was transported to Texas County Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
In total, police handled one accident, seven animal complaints, two domestic violence calls, one property damage/vandalism incident, one stealing/theft incident, two suspicious activity calls, one unsecured building, assisted other agencies four times and assisted the public once.
