Deputy’s report: Woman reports attempted break-in

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

• A 35-year-old Roby woman came to the TCSD office on Jan. 5 to report that someone had written in her journal.

The woman told a deputy there was writing in the journal that wasn’t hers. She also said she sometimes hears voices harassing her, but she isn’t mentally ill.

The woman said she wanted a report generated in case someone was stalking her.

• A deputy was dispatched Jan. 25 regarding a report of a burglary in progress at a residence on Timber Hill Road at Raymondville.

The officer made contact with a 69-year-old man there who said the residence is a hunting lodge. Surveillance photos taken at the location showed a man wearing a mask and carrying a backpack entering the building and taking a bottle of maple syrup from the fridge and putting it in the pack.

A sleeping bag was also reportedly stolen.

Investigation is ongoing.

• A deputy was dispatched at about 11:50 p.m. Jan. 27 regarding a report of trespassing at a Texas Tower Road residence near Licking.

A 33-year-old man there told the officer that he had observed a truck and trailer backing up to his Jeep, but the officer didn’t see the vehicles or anyone but the man.

Investigation is ongoing.

• A deputy was dispatched Feb. 9 regarding a report of a break-in in progress at an Ellis Road residence at Licking.

A 49-year-old woman there told the officer she had been lying in bed and heard someone aggressively hitting the back door and attempting to enter. She said she pressed against the door and screamed and that the lock had been broken.

The officer reported seeing no obvious damage to the lock, and no footprints in muddy areas outside near the door. The woman was advised to install a security camera.
