James Mitchell Goodchild was born Sept. 13, 1975 in Kankakee, Ill. to Gary and Linda (Tipton) Goodchild. He passed away Feb. 17, 2024 at the age of 48.
He was united in marriage to Nikki Lynne Hergesheimer on Sept. 17, 2009 and they were blessed with three children, Jaclynn, Shalynn Mae and Ruger Wayne.
James spent his early years in Illinois until the family moved to Summersville the summer following his sophomore year. He then attended Summersville High School, graduating with the class of 1994. He had spent the last seven years as a faithful employee of Zimmerman Meats.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nikki and grandparents, Amos and Francine Rock and Joann Tipton and a brother-in-law, Dean Hulvey.
He is survived by his children, Jaclynn and her companion, Jacob Doss, Shay and Ruger; his father, Gary Goodchild; his mother Linda Goodchild; a granddaughter, Kinsly Doss; a grandson, Bo Doss; his brother Jeremie Goodchild; bonus brother, Darren Collins and his wife Heidi; his grandfather, Roy Tipton; aunts and uncle, Joe, Stacy and Pam Tipton; father-in-law, Tim Hergesheimer; mother-in-law, Sandy Randazzo; brother-in-law, Midnight Andrews (Samantha); sisters-in-law, Tina Hulvey (Cecil), Lacey Andrews (Christian), Adreanna Hergesheimer and Kristen Smallwood as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends who were like family to him.
James loved doing anything outdoors including fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting and any other outdoor activity he could find. They enjoyed listening to the Carpenter Family play and sing any chance they got as well. The family also enjoyed attending gun shows together. Most of all, James loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024 at Bradford Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Cook officiating. The family would like to sincerely thank all those that have shown them love and kindness in the wake of this tragedy. There has been an account set up at Security Bank of the Ozarks to benefit the Goodchild children.
