In a road game last Friday at Cabool, the Houston High School boys junior varsity basketball team fell 36-24.

The Tigers led 16-15 at halftime.

The host Bulldogs then outscored Houston 10-2 in the third quarter and 11-6 in the fourth to secure the victory.

Sophomore guard Caden Guerra and freshman forward Dillon Shelton each scored 6 points for the Tigers in the contest, while junior guard Dylan Dzurick and sophomore center Gavyn Daily each had 4 and freshman forwards Brady Burnett and Hudson Volk added 2 apiece.

Through last week, the JV Tigers had a season record of 6-12.

“I’ve seen big improvements from each kid in every game,” said coach Rodney Preheim.

The squad wraps up the season this week with home games against Ava on Tuesday, Dora on Thursday and Willow Springs on Friday.

2024 HHS JV BOYS RESULTS

•Jan. 23 (home): Laquey 48, Houston 37.

Daily led the Tigers in scoring with 12 points, while freshman guard Nate Jadwin had 9 and junior Dzurick added 4.

•Jan. 25 (home): Salem 74, Houston 41.

Dzurick and Guerra each scored 11 points, while freshman forward Jesse Gates had 9 and Burnett added 5.

•Jan. 26 (away): Houston 53, Bourbon 38.

Gates led the Tigers’ offense in the road victory with 18 points, while Dzurick had 10 and Daily, Guerra and junior forward Owen Wells added 6 apiece.

•Jan. 30 (away): Mountain Grove 67, Houston 16.

Guerra scored 7 points for the Tigers, while Daily had 4.

•Feb. 1 (home): Houston 39, Summersville 29.

Dzurick scored in double-figures again with 10 points, while Guerra had 8, Gates had 7 and Shelton added 4.

•Feb. 2 (away): Thayer 62, Houston 21.

Jadwin led the Tigers in scoring with 6 points, while Dzurick and Guerra each had 5.

•Feb. 5 (away): Norwood 56, Houston 41.

Dzurick notched a season-high 15 points in the win, while Daily had 11, Guerra had 7 and Jadwin added 5.

Feb. 6 (away): Liberty 44, Houston 22.

Guerra scored 7 points for the Tigers, while Dzurick had 5, Burnett had 4 and Jadwin added 3.
