A Licking man faces a felony offense after the discovery of suspected fentanyl capsules, according to court documents.

Travis E. Dooley, born in 1990, was charged Feb. 14 with a felony, second-degree trafficking of drugs. His bond is $250,000.

Dooley was pulled over Feb. 14 at the 197-mile marker of Interstate 44 after the vehicle he was driving in Phelps County was observed with a nonfunctioning passenger side headlight, according to authorities.

According to a report, Dooley initially identified himself as another individual, but the officer noted he didn’t match the photo on file for the driver. It says Dooley then revealed his true name and a computer check showed his driver’s license was revoked, and he was wanted on an active probation and parole warrant.

After Dooley was taken into custody, the report says a search of the vehicle located two bags containing 59 capsules of suspected fentanyl weighing about 6 grams. The report says Dooley initially denied knowledge of the pills, but was then quoted as admitting he had an addiction problem and they contained fentanyl. The items were to be sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Laboratory for analysis.
