UPDATE: The Texas County Sheriff’s Department reported Saturday morning that Smith has been taken into custody.
A man fled from Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputies on Turley Road off of Highway M following a vehicle pursuit Friday evening, the department said.
Stanley Smith, 53, was last seen near the 11100 Turley Road area in Plato before he abandoned his vehicle and fled into a wooded area. He is not believed to be armed but that cannot be confirmed.
“If you see him, please call 911,” deputies said. “Please keep vehicles locked and report any suspicious activity.”
