Authorities said a man from Eunice is in custody after assaulting a Mountain View police officer, attacking another man and burglarizing a home Sunday.
Willie G. Day, 41, is charged with two counts of third-degree assault of a special victim, officers; third-degree assault, first-degree burglary and felony resisting arrest, officers said. He is held on $50,000 cash or surety bond.
Mountain View police said they responded to a Third Street peace disturbance call at about 4:42 a.m. An officer found Day allegedly beating a white truck and screaming at a driver, according to a report. When approached by an officer, Day allegedly cursed at him, assaulted him through an open window, punching him and grabbing his ear in an attempt to pull him from the cruiser.
The police officer called for assistance and drove away. Police said during this time, Day allegedly broke into a Third Street residence, broke the locks and attempted to fight the resident. Day later fell off the porch while fighting the victim, police said.
Mountain View officers returned with assistance from Howell County Sheriff’s deputies, and Day is accused of resisting arrest and continuing to fight the law enforcement officers, kicking two of them.Â
