The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • At about 11:50 a.m. Feb. 21, a deputy conducted a traffic stop of a dune buggy at Highway 106 and Cherry Street in Summersville.

William D. Grammar, 24, of 3580 Highway 17 in Summersville, was issued citations for operating an ATV on a public roadway and no insurance.

  • On Jan. 10, a deputy investigated a report of trash dumped on Lilly Road near the creek.

A 37-year-old woman was identified as a suspect and a probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking a littering charge.

  • A deputy responded on Feb. 29 to a report of a vehicle fire at a Craddock Drive residence at Licking.

The officer made contact with a 46-year-old woman there who said her brother-in-law had allowed her to have possession of the vehicle (of unreported make and model) and they parked it on her property. She said it had a wiring issue with the stereo and she was inside the residence and heard a loud pop and observed the vehicle burning.

The woman said she used a water hose to contain the fire. Licking Fire Department personnel arrived and extinguished it.

  • A deputy was dispatched March 2 regarding a report of an assault at a Highway B residence at Raymondville.

A 44-year-old man there told the officer a 73-year-old man had assaulted him with a cane and had also struck his vehicle’s windshield with it.

The suspect reportedly denied the allegations, but a probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor.
