The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
- On Feb. 21, a deputy was dispatched to the picnic area on Highway 32 between Roby and Plato regarding a report of trash dumping.
Upon arrival, the officer observed a large pile of trash. Investigation led to a citation for littering being issued to Jeremy D. Hamilton, 37, of Trenton, Mo.
- On March 5, a 56-year-old Elk Creek woman reported that a gravestone had been moved from a cemetery on Longview Road.
The woman told an investigating deputy that she didn’t know who the owners of the property were, but they had removed the stone and were trying to sell the property.
The deputy identified the man and woman who own it, and they said they had not removed a gravestone, but had been cleaning up the property. The officer went to the cemetery and located the stone where the owners said it would be.
- A deputy responded on March 9 to a report of a domestic disturbance at a Finley Drive residence at Cabool.
The officer made contact with a 74-year-old man there who said he and his 56-year-old daughter had been involved in a verbal argument. Investigation revealed that the woman had an active warrant (of unreported nature). She was arrested and taken to jail.
- A deputy was dispatched to Texas County Memorial Hospital on March 10 regarding a report of a dog bite.
The officer made contact with a 25-year-old woman there who said a dog owned by a 54-year-old man had bitten her on the hand as she tried to separate it from fighting with her dog at a Highway E residence. The deputy spoke with the man and advised him to quarantine his dog for 10 days.
