The Emmett Kelly Parade promises to be entertaining this year.

The parade will open with the 399th Army Jazz Band marching, and include Sparky the Clown with her famous clown car, the Springfield Shriners Abou Ben Adhem Clowns, Stasia Kelly and the Houston High School Band.

Scott Radford, local Shriner, said, “Emmett Kelly is a much revered and celebrated pioneer in the world of clowns. He is credited with “inventing” an entire class of clowns called Tramp / Hobo. The Shriners love coming to Houston for the Emmett Kelly festival because of the friendly atmosphere, and the attendees seem to enjoy all of the clowns wandering up and down the streets.”

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27 in Downtown Houston.Others can participate in the fun parade. Come dressed as a clown, walk your dog dressed up for the parade or drive a special car. Please contact Brenda Senter at  hisel1970@yahoo.com to sign up for the parade.
