A springlike atmosphere featuring colorful birdhouses delightfully decorated with flowers by hostess Kathy Anderson welcomed the Cabool Art Club to its April 16 meeting. 

The meeting was called to order with a prayer by Sari Wright. Roll Call introduced the theme of the day as members shared something they would change about their homes. 

The treasurer’s report by Marie Beller was followed by the report of the Courtesy Committee by Kathy Anderson. Vicki Woods read the minutes of the March meeting and provided a special report on the Southwest Missouri Museum Associates annual Honors and Extension Luncheon held on March 27. President Shelley Travis presented the 2024 – 2025 Slate of Officers which was voted on and approved. 

Arrangements were made for a group excursion to the Springfield Art Museum for the Art in Bloom festival of fashion and floral Design.  Art in Bloom 2024 runs from April 24 to 28. 

The Club also made plans to participate in the Mountain Grove Mayfest event scheduled for 9 a.m. May 4 on the Mountain Grove Square. Baked goods, specially flavored popcorn and Art Club Cookbooks will be available for sale to raise money for scholarships.

Lyn Santa presented a very informative discussion on ways to perk up our homes or special “corners” with color and texture. She displayed Vision Boards to demonstrate ideas of design and brought color samples and pamphlets for all to enjoy. Club members were encouraged by the suggestions of simple ways to make significant changes to freshen and accent their interior and exterior surroundings. The presentation inspired some members to make immediate changes in their homes. 

The meeting adjourned to enjoy delicious spring themed refreshments. Members and guests present were Kathy Anderson, Marie Beller, Felicia Ellis, Sari Wright, Vicki Woods, Abigail Sundahl, Shelley Travis, Liz Durham, Vanetta Sponsler, Lyn Santa, Glenda Plumlee and Tracey Trettin.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be the annual Salads Galore Luncheon on May 21 at the Cabool Methodist Church.
