The National Weather Service is issuing a warning about an elevated to significant fire danger this afternoon. (April 7)

Relative humidity values will drop to 20-30% with southwest wind gusts of 25 to 35 mph.

Fires can spread rapidly in these conditions, especially in any leaf litter or dormant vegetation, it said.

Outside burning is discouraging except by experienced fire personnel. It said to avoid activities that cause open flames or sparks. Properly discard cigarettes. Avoid parking on dry grass and check trailers for dragging chains.
