Sales tax revenue collected by Houston merchants during March was up compared to a year ago, according to the Missouri Department of Revenue.

A one-cent sales tax earmarked for parks, police and fire generated $79,832.92 for the month of March. That’s up $8,870.62 from the same period a year ago.

A one-cent general sales tax totaled $84,287.31. That’s an increase of $10,137.19 from the same period last year.

Two quarter-cent sales taxes – one for transportation and one for utility work – each totaled $19,958 in the month of March. That’s up $2,217 from the same period last year.

A use tax applied to out-of-state internet orders totals $17,960.36 for the month. That’s up $3,692.83 from the same period last year.
