The annual meeting of University of Missouri Extension Council of Texas County was held Thursday, March 28 at the Lone Star Annex Event Room in Houston. 

The meeting included the swearing in of appointed council member Racheal Pursifull, completing an unexpired term, and newly elected council members Dr. Justin Copley, Dee Ann DuCote and Jeff Gettys. New council members will serve along with Susan Haller, David Keeney, Ross Richardson, Kristie Miller, John Casey and Robert Rouse.  The Council seeks to fulfill the Extension mission to improve Missourians’ lives by addressing the highest priorities for Texas County citizenship and offering the opportunity to apply research-based knowledge to their enterprises.  

Newly appointed officers are Jeff Gettys, chair; Ross Richardson, vice-chair; David Keeney, secretary; and Dee Ann DuCote, treasurer. 

Dr. Janice Weddle, engagement specialist, presented the 2023 Leaders Honor Roll certificate to J.J. “Marty” and Ute Martinez. They were honored as volunteers and outstanding community leaders in supporting MU Extension and 4-H.

Vanessa Haneline, outgoing council member, was acknowledged for her service.

Helping Texas County residents are Kyle Wake, 4-H youth specialist; Eric Meusch, livestock specialist; Elizabeth Picking, livestock specialist; Weddle, extension engagement specialist; Kay Jordan, office manager; Dana McGuire, nutrition program associate; Sarah Havens, regional director; Dr. Sarah Kenyon, agronomy specialist; Shelby Yake, community health specialist; Chloe Collins, dairy specialist; Patrick Byers, horticulture specialist; and Stephanie Johnson, nutrition and health specialist.
